Extremely attractive complete 33-card set of Red Heart Dog Food baseball cards. Though comprised of only 33 cards, the set features many of the greatest stars of the early 1950s, including Mantle, Musial, Snider, Ashburn, Spahn, and Fox. This is a very sharp-looking set, put away by an old-time collector many years ago. We have selected three cards to be graded by SGC. Keys: Ashburn (Ex), Erskine (Nr/Mt), Fox (Nr/Mt), Kell (Ex-Mt), Kiner (70/30 L/R, otherwise Ex-Mt), Kluszewski (Nr/Mt), Lemon (Nr/Mt), Mantle (SGC NM 84), Martin (Nr/Mt), McDougald SP (Nr/Mt-Mt), Minoso (Ex-Mt), Musial (SGC NM 84), Schoendienst (Ex-Mt), Slaughter (Nr/Mt-Mt), Snider (30/70 L/R, otherwise Ex-Mt), and Spahn (SGC NM/MT 88). The balance of the cards range from Ex-Mt to Nr/Mt-Mt (averaging Nr/Mt). Red Hearts have always been a favorite with collectors. Many consider Red Hearts to be one of the most attractive sets ever issued. The distinctive artwork, and the unusual product with which they were issued both contribute to making Red Hearts one of the 1950s most noteworthy sets. No essay on baseball cards and how they were issued is complete without at least a mention of Red Heart Dog Food. This is a striking high-grade complete set of one of the most popular 1950s food issues. The equivalent SMR value for just three of the graded cards (not including the thirty ungraded cards) is $1,300. Total: 33 cards. Reserve $500. Estimate $1,000/$2,000+. SOLD FOR $4,444
