Exceptional high-grade complete 33-card set of Red Heart Dog Food baseball cards. Though comprised of only thirty-three cards, the set features many of the greatest stars of the early 1950s, including Mantle, Musial, Snider, Ashburn, Spahn, and Fox. This is a very sharp-looking set. All of the cards have been graded and encapsulated by PSA. The PSA grades are as follows: Eight NM-MT 8: Cox, Hegan, Kiner (HOF), Mantle (HOF), McMillan, Musial (HOF), Pierce, and White. Twelve NM 7: Bell, Dark, Fox (HOF), Gilliam, Kell (HOF), Kluszewski, Lemon (HOF), Martin, Minoso, Sauer, Slaughter (HOF), and Yost. Nine EX-MT 6: Erskine, Fain (MC), Fondy, Kuenn, Lollar, McDougald, Schoendienst (HOF), Spahn (HOF), and Zernial. Four EX 5: Ashburn (HOF), Baumholtz, Rosen, and Snider (HOF). Red Hearts have always been a favorite with collectors. Many consider Red Hearts to be one of the most attractive sets ever issued. The distinctive artwork and the unusual product with which they were issued both contribute to making Red Hearts one of the 1950s' most noteworthy sets. No essay on baseball cards and how they were issued is complete without at least a mention of Red Heart Dog Food. This is a very striking and extremely high-grade complete set of one of the most popular of all 1950s food issues. The SMR value for the individual cards (not including the one qualified card) is $4,650. Total: 33 cards. Reserve $1,000. Estimate $2,000/$4,000. SOLD FOR $4,148
