Graded NM 84 by SGC. Magnificent high-grade example of one of collecting's most classic cards, the 1952 Topps #261 Willie Mays. This is a pack-fresh gem! The corners are strong and sharp. The colors are bright, bold, and crisp. Perfectly clean on the reverse. There are a few pinpoint indentations on Mays' left cheek (incredibly minor and impossible to see without looking at it at the right angle in bright light; if not for this tiny flaw, though very insignificant, the card would receive an even higher grade). The centering is approximately 60/40 left to right with a very slight diamond cut. This is a spectacular example in all respects of one of Willie Mays' most important cards, and one of 1950s bubble gum card collecting's most famous and universally recognized classics. The equivalent SMR value is $2,500. Reserve $500. Estimate $1,000/$2,000. SOLD FOR $2,133
