Presented is an unusual collection of twenty-two different prewar cards, spanning the years 1923 to 1940, with representation of five different card sets, highlighted by nine Hall of Famers, including Mel Ott, Jimmie Foxx (2), Lefty Grove, and Joe DiMaggio. Five cards have been graded by BVG (1), PSA (2), or SGC (2). The collection is comprised of the following: 1) 1923 W572 Strip Card: Grover Alexander (SGC EX 60). 2) 1933 R300 George C. Miller: Mel Ott (PSA Authentic, heavily worn). 3) 1933 R319 Goudey: #154 Jimmy Foxx (PSA VG 3). 4) 1934-1936 R327 Diamond Stars (18 cards): includes #1 Lefty Grove (Fr), 35 Earl Averill (signed in pencil, Vg), 36 Ernie Lombardi (Fr), 59 Jim Bottomley (Fr), and 64 Jimmie Foxx (BVG VG+ 3.5). The balance of the cards range in grade from Fr to Vg, averaging Good (includes one trimmed): #5, 29, 37, 42, 55, 57, 58, 67, 69, 71, 73, 79, and 89. 5) 1940 R335 Play Ball: #1 DiMaggio (SGC Authentic, trimmed along the left edge). This is an interesting and very eclectic representation of five classic card issues from the 1923-1940 era, including several key Hall of Famers. The SMR value of just the one numerically graded PSA card, a very attractive example of the classic #154 Jimmy Foxx, is $210. Total: 22 cards. Reserve $300. Estimate $500++. SOLD FOR $830
