Graded GOOD 30 by SGC. Rare Texas Tommy Type 1 sample card featuring third baseman Harry Lord of the Chicago White Sox. Texas Tommys were issued with candy bars of that name by the "Cardinet Candy Co." of Oakland, California. Texas Tommy Type 1 cards each have the headline "Texas Tommy" printed on the reverse, below which is a very substantial biography (as opposed to Type 2 cards, which have blank backs). The card has a vertical crease down the center (difficult to see from the front but more visible from the reverse), and even corner wear. Though technically modest in grade, the card still displays beautifully. It also has a particularly clean reverse, which is especially desirable for a sample card from this unusual and rare set. Reserve $300. Estimate $500+.
