Graded EX 60 by SGC. 1887 N172 Old Judge card of Hall of Famer Dan Brouthers (#43-2) with Boston posed in front of an elaborate studio backdrop. This is a pink-tint N172 Old Judge, and while the pink-tint cards sometimes have poor photo contrast, this card has a very high quality image. This is a particularly nice looking card. The card has light wear on the corners and, as is often the case with Old Judges, the picture is a little light. Very clean, both front and back, with a slight irregular cut along the left edge. Brouthers was a five-time batting champion who led the NL in slugging percentage each of his first six full seasons, and is one of the most prominent of all nineteenth-century Hall of Famers. This is a very attractive Hall of Famer example from the nineteenth century's most revered set. Reserve $500. Estimate $1,000+. SOLD FOR $948
