Collection of 83 different (plus twenty-eight duplicates for a total of 111 cards) 1911 T205 Gold Borders, including twenty-five Hall of Famers. Thirty cards grade Vg, and the balance of eighty-one cards are lower grade, ranging from Poor to Good (including a few trimmed). Highlights: Baker (Pr, Polar Bear), Bender (clipped corners), two Bresnahan/mouth closed (Gd and Pr), Brown (Pr), two Chance (Gd and trimmed), Cicotte ("Black Sox" member, Fr-Gd, Polar Bear), Clarke (Pr), two Collins/mouth closed (Fr and Pr), Duffy (Pr), two Evers (Vg and Fr-Gd), Griffith (Gd), Hoblitzell/Cin after 2nd 1908 stats (trimmed), three Huggins (two Gd and Fr, all Polar Bear), Jennings (miscut on back, otherwise Vg-Ex), Latham/"A. Latham" on back (Vg, Sovereign), two McGraw (Vg and Gd, one Polar Bear), Tinker (Gd-Vg), two Wallace/cap (Vg and trimmed), Walsh (Pr, Polar Bear), and Wheat (Vg). Today these collections of modest-grade classic cards, especially when offered with a high concentration of Hall of Famers as is the case here, represent some of the best values in all of vintage-card collecting. This collection of T205 Gold Borders, with eighty-three different cards representing 40% of a complete set, could easily serve as a solid foundation for the building of an exceptionally attractive low-grade set. Total: 111 cards. Reserve $500. Estimate $1,000/$1,500. SOLD FOR $3,259
