Graded VG/EX 50 by SGC. Only "1 of 1" graded by SGC with no other examples at any level graded by PSA or SGC. Tremendous 1911 T5 Pinkerton cabinet card of "Black Sox" member Chick Gandil. This is the first example of Gandil from this set we have seen. T5 Pinkerton cabinets are among the rarest of all 1910-era tobacco issues, and this is certainly one of Chick Gandil's premier vintage cards. This card features a striking photo of Gandil leaning to his right catching a ball. Extremely clean both front and back, with particularly strong photo contrast and detail, and very light corner wear to mount. On the reverse, a very light and insignificant stain along the left edge and a few surface creases in the extreme lower-right corner (when held horizontal, as intended) are responsible for the card being downgraded from Excellent. This is an extraordinary world-class card that would be a highlight in even the most noteworthy advanced vintage-card or Black Sox collection. Reserve $500. Estimate $1,000++. SOLD FOR $5,036
