Graded VG 40 by SGC. Presented is a classic portrait image of Hall of Famer Eddie Plank from the prized T204 Ramly series. Plank is one of the most desirable cards in the set, both due to his stature as one of the few key Hall of Famers in the set, and the fact that the portrait is the same as that which appears on his famous T206 card. The Ramly series is universally recognized as one of the most desirable of all the tobacco-card issues, appreciated by collectors both for its rarity and distinctive style. Plank is one of only fifteen Hall of Famers in the Ramly Tobacco set. The card is centered slightly to the left with light wear on the borders and corners. The portrait is flawless. Clean both front and back, and with a boldly printed reverse. The card has been downgraded by SGC due to a tiny corner crease in the lower left and another light crease on the top right border; the card is otherwise Very Good to Excellent. One of only three VG 40s graded by SGC to date, with just five examples graded higher in the entire population report. This is a very attractive example of one of baseball's most popular Hall of Famers from this beautiful and extremely condition-sensitive set . Reserve $500. Estimate $1,000/$2,000++.
