Graded FR 1.5 by PSA. Presented is a very attractive low-grade example of the T206 Magie error card. Magie is one of the rarest cards in the T206 set, and along with Plank, Wagner, and of course the rare Doyle, is usually one of the last cards required by collectors to complete the T206 set. The Magie error card has been always recognized as one of card collecting's great rarities, since the days of Jefferson Burdick. (In fact, Burdick singled out the Magie as one of the significant T206 rarities in the original American Card Catalog .) This is a very pleasing and relatively affordable example of this famous error card. The card is bright and clean, extremely well centered, with a crisp, perfectly focused image and bold colors; the minor surface wear and a few creases, including one across his forehead, do not significantly detract from the card's overall eye-appeal. The corners are evenly rounded and there is also light glue residue on the back. The reverse of the card features a boldly printed advertisement for Piedmont Cigarettes (150 Subjects, Factory No. 25). This is an extremely pleasing low-grade example (especially desirable to many collectors as it is also far more affordable than a higher-grade example) of one of card collecting's most famous error cards and one of the hobby's most legendary rarities. The SMR does not provide a value for the FR 1.5 grade. The SMR value for a PSA PR 1 is $5,500 and the SMR value for a PSA GOOD 2 is $8,750. Reserve $1,000. Estimate $2,500+.
