Original-owner collection of 144 different (plus three duplicates, for a total 147 cards) T206 White Border tobacco cards, highlighted by six Hall of Famers, infamous "Black Sox" member Ed Cicotte, and the rare Elberfeld, Washington - portrait. These cards were part of a very substantial, totally untouched collection of 1910-era tobacco cards consigned to this auction (all cards from this collection appear in several lots of the auction) that was saved for decades by the family of the original owner. Condition: 35% Ex-Mt or better, and 65% range from Vg-Ex to Ex (with a couple slightly lesser). This is one of the "freshest" groups of T206s we have ever handled. Each card is extremely bright, clean, and crisp, with vibrant colors, and snow-white borders. All have Piedmont or Sweet Caporal backs. We have submitted four cards to SGC. Highlights: Chase/white cap (Vg-Ex), Chesbro (Vg-Ex), Cicotte (SGC EX 60), Elberfeld/Wash. - port. (SGC VG/EX 50), Flick (Vg-Ex), Griffith/bat (SGC VG/EX 50), Lajoie/throw (Vg/Vg-Ex), McGraw/finger in air (SGC VG/EX 50), and Young/bare hand (Vg-Ex). Very consistent, uncommonly clean group, handpicked as the best from an assortment of several hundred cards. This is an ideal collection to serve as the foundation for the assembly of an extremely high quality T206 set, the most popular and classic set of the 1910 era. Total: 147 cards. Reserve $1,000. Estimate $2,000/$4,000+. SOLD FOR $18,960
