Rarely offered and very impressive-looking collection of 1936-1937 V304D O-Pee-Chee includes twenty-four of the thirty-six cards comprising this rare, unusual, and very substantial 1930s Canadian hockey issue. The collection is highlighted by nine Hall of Famers, including Howie Morenz, Eddie Shore, King Clancy, and Aurel Joliat. Eighteen cards range from Vg-Ex to Ex-Mt (averaging Ex), five are Vg, and one is lesser. Four cards have been graded and encapsulated by SGC (all submitted by REA). Keys: #98 Schriner RC (Ex), 109 Shibicky RC (Ex-Mt), 118 Shore (Gd), 121 Morenz (VG/EX 50), 122 Horner (Vg), 123 C. Conacher (EX/NM 80), 124 Jackson (Ex), 125 Clancy (VG/EX 50), 128 Patrick (Ex), and 129 Joliat (EX+ 70). Missing the following twelve cards for completion: #97 Broda, 101 Apps, 102 L. Conacher, 105 Colville, 108, 110, 112, 117 Goodfellow, 120, 126, 127, and 132 Smith. Cards from the 1936-1937 V304D O-Pee-Chee set are very difficult to find in high grade. These cards are designed with die-cut backgrounds that can be punched out and folded back to allow each card to stand up. Because of the die-cut stand-up design, many V304Ds are naturally found in damaged condition, and in many cases are found with the die-cut backgrounds entirely lost. Higher-grade examples tend to be downgraded by grading companies due to very minor factors relating to their die-cut design. The reverse of each card is printed in both English and French. This is an extremely attractive and, for V304s, very high-grade collection of twenty-four cards, representing 67% of a complete set, from one of 1930s rarest and most classic 1930s hockey sets. The equivalent SMR value for just the four graded cards (not including the twenty ungraded cards) is $2,475. Total: 24 cards. Reserve $1,000. Estimate $2,000/$3,000+. SOLD FOR $7,110
