Each of these two Muhammad Ali display pieces is comprised of an enormous Muhammad Ali signature example, professionally matted together with an additional Ali handwritten "saying" and a unique photo of Ali (taken by noted photographer John Stewart) that was produced specifically to illustrate the sentiments expressed by Ali in his writings (see introduction for the complete history of these pieces). These are naturally extraordinary for display, as intended by Muhammad Ali, and blur the distinction between autograph collecting and art in a very unusual manner. The first, which is the larger of the two (36 x 24 inches), features Ali's most famous mantra "Float like a butterfly, Sting like a bee," together with an amazing fourteen-inch signature example and a black-and-white photo (8 x 10 inches) of Ali holding a butterfly and bee. The second (24 x 20 inches) features the word "Peace" together with another fourteen-inch signature example and a black-and-white (8 x 10 inches) photo of Ali holding a dove. All of the text and both signatures are boldly scripted, grading "9/10." The sheets all display a few minor creases and the "Peace" sheet also has a vertical line of tiny perforations (original to the sheet). In Excellent condition overall. LOA from James Spence/JSA. Total: 2 signed displays. Reserve $1,000. Estimate (open). SOLD FOR $2,666
