Graded EX 5 by PSA. Only five examples graded higher. This is a stunning card! Spectacular high-grade example of Hall of Famer Ty Cobb in a batting pose from the highly desirable E90-1 American Caramel series, one of Cobb's most beautifully designed cards and one of the key cards from the set. This classic 1910-era caramel card is widely recognized by collectors as one of Cobb’s most striking cards, but is rarely found this nice. This is a high-grade example with extremely strong eye-appeal. Cobb’s image is boldly set against the vibrant multicolor background. The card is almost perfectly centered, with a slight diamond cut along the top, a flawlessly bright and clean surface, and with just the slightest hint of wear to the four square corners. The reverse is also flawless and perfectly clean, with bold black print. This card is in magnificent condition for any 1910-era card, let alone for a caramel card, which because they were issued with candy, one card per package, tend to survive in lesser condition than their more common tobacco-card counterparts. This is an exceptional high-grade example of one of Cobb’s most desirable cards from the premier “E” card issue, and one that would be a highlight in any extremely high quality classic, Hall of Fame, E90-1, or Ty Cobb card collection. The SMR value for the assigned grade is $4,500. Reserve $1,000. Estimate $2,000/$3,000+.
