Real-photo postcard of Jimmie Foxx as a member of the Philadelphia Athletics, signed by "The Beast" in blue fountain pen. Foxx’s inscription, which reads "Sincerely, Jimmie Foxx," appears vertically along the right border and grades “9.” Although the card is undated, with no manufacturer listed, the sock style worn by Foxx here was only used by the A's between the years 1929 and 1931. Ideally, those years also correspond to the club’s last great dynasty in which they won three pennants and two World Championships. Foxx was just twenty-two years old in 1929, a year which marked the start of his incredible streak of hitting thirty or more home runs and driving in 100 or more runs in twelve consecutive seasons. This is the ultimate classic Jimmie Foxx signed real-photo postcard, produced for Foxx to give to fans. Years ago a small find of these signed postcards in top shape surfaced, and based on its exceptional condition, this example is almost certainly from that find. The card measures 3.5 x 5.5 inches and is in Near Mint condition. LOA from James Spence/JSA. Reserve $200. Estimate $400/$800. SOLD FOR $1,058
