Graded VG 40 by SGC. Very attractive example of 1887 N172 Old Judge of Hall of Famer Mike "King" Kelly (bat in left hand at side pose), identified as "$10,000 Kelly." Kelly earned this nickname when he was sold from Boston to Chicago following the 1887 season for this then unheard of sum. It is perfectly centered, with superb photo quality, evenly rounded corners, and some light soiling on the reverse. This is one of the most popular poses of Kelly in the Old Judge series. This is an outstanding medium-grade Old Judge of the legendary Mike "King" Kelly, one of nineteenth-century baseball's greatest stars. Reserve $500. Estimate $1,000/$1,500. SOLD FOR $4,406
