Offered is an exceptional high-grade complete set of 1960 Fleer Baseball Greats cards. All seventy-nine cards have been encapsulated and graded by PSA. Included are four MINT 9s, two NM-MT+ 8.5s, thirty-three NM-MT 8s, twenty-five NM 7s, and fifteen EX-MT 6s. Of special note is the fact that this set was assembled by our consignor directly from the factory (direct mail offer) in the year of issue and safely stored them away for over forty-five years. The PSA grades are as follows: Four MINT 9: #61 Waddell, 62 Wagner, 72 Williams (his final Major League season), and 73 Giles. Two NM-MT+ 8.5: #46 Plank and 66 McGraw. Thirty-three NM-MT 8: #3 Ruth, 6 Johnson, 12 Wheat, 13 Sisler, 15 Griffith, 17 Lombardi, 23 Barrow, 25 J. Collins, 26 Feller, 28 Gehrig, 32 Simmons, 33 Robinson, 34 Rice, 35 Pennock, 36 Ott, 37 O'Doul, 38 Mize, 41 Baker, 42 Cobb, 47 Young, 49 Walsh, 51 Vance, 52 Terry, 53 Foxx, 55 Rickey, 57 Evers, 58 Gehringer, 65 Heilmann, 67 Jennings, 74 Frick, 75 Cuyler, 77 Traynor, and 78 Waner. Twenty-five NM 7: #1 Lajoie, 7 Bender, 8 Bresnahan, 9 Brown, 10 Speaker, 11 Klein, 16 Boudreau, 19 Marion, 20 E. Collins, 21 Maranville, 30 Klein, 31 Lazzeri, 39 Miller, 40 Tinker, 43 Derringer, 45 Bottomley, 48 Wilson, 50 Chance, 60 Grove, 63 Ruffing, 68 Newhouser, 69 Hoyt, 70 Newsom, 71 Averill, and 76 Waner. Fifteen EX-MT 6: #2 Mathewson, 4 Hubbell, 5 Alexander, 14 Mack, 18 Manush, 22 Medwick, 24 Cochrane, 27 Appling, 29 Hartnett, 44 Anson, 54 Gomez, 56 Schalk, 59 Grimes, 64 Landis, and 79 Kiner. In 1960 Fleer would have preferred to put out a set featuring current stars, but was unable to do so due to Topps' ironclad contracts with all the modern players (except Ted Williams), so Fleer came up with the idea for this old-timers set to keep their foot in the trading-card game. This is a tremendous high-grade set of this historic, classic, and often overlooked Fleer issue. The total SMR value for the individual cards is $3,219. Total 79 cards. Reserve $800. Estimate $1,500/$2,500 . SOLD FOR $1,763
