This is the actual original artwork to card #26 of Eddie Joost of the Philadelphia Athletics from the 1952 Bowman series. The Bowman sets from the early 1950s are highly regarded in part for their use of original paintings. All Bowman original artworks are rare and examples from the baseball-card sets from the early 1950s are especially highly prized. This is a magnificent example of an original Bowman artwork used in the production of this classic baseball series. The tiny tear near the upper left corner and a corner chip in lower right corner are very minor flaws mentioned strictly for the sake of accuracy, and are related to the card production process. As is always the case with these original early 1950s card artworks, there are also standard production-related glue remnants on the blank reverse. Accompanied by an example of the issued card. This is a very attractive artwork, one of the few survivors from the files of Bowman, dating from the heart of the legendary bubble-gum war of the early 1950s. Clean and crisp with brilliant colors. The artwork measures 4-1/8 x 6-1/4 inches and is in overall Excellent condition. Reserve $500. Estimate $1,000/$1,500. SOLD FOR $1,645
