Graded NM 7 by PSA. Condition-sensitive #1 card in high grade featuring Hall of Fame pitcher Whitey Ford, from the popular 1951 Bowman issue. Besides being the number-one card in the set, this card also represents Ford's rookie card. The card displays four sharp corners (a little more wear on the upper left), perfect registration, brilliant colors, and is centered to the bottom (approximately 70/30 T/B). The reverse is virtually flawless with no gum or wax stains as is often the case with 1951 Bowmans. Being the number-one card in the set, it is a true condition rarity. This card naturally gravitated to the top of the stack, usually exposing it to extra wear and handling, and thus making high-grade examples far more difficult to find than most other 1951 Bowmans and other Ford cards. This is an extremely attractive high-grade example of Ford's most sought-after card. Reserve $400. Estimate $800/$1,200.
