Centennial Flour was one of the most unusual regional card issuers of the 1940s. Presented is a complete set of 1945 Centennial Flour cards. The 1945 Centennial Flour set features members of the Seattle Rainers of the Pacific Coast League. Each card features a biography on the reverse, as well as "Compliments of - Centennial Hotcake and Waffle Flour" printed along the bottom. Catalogued F340, this unusual set was the third consecutive Seattle Rainers set issued by Centennial in the 1940s. There was no set issued in 1946, but they returned with a final set issued in 1947. The Centennial Flour sets have always been highly prized as one of the premier regional Pacific Coast League card issues. There were very few card sets of any type issued during the mid-1940s, and fewer still devoted to Pacific Coast League players, which naturally tend to be very scarce as they were only regionally issued. (It is not a coincidence that the consignor of this set is from Seattle!) This is a beautiful uncirculated complete set that was probably put in a drawer or closet in 1945 and forgotten about for decades. Condition ranges from Ex to Nr/Mt, averaging Ex-Mt overall. Total: 27 cards. Reserve $500. Estimate $1,000+. SOLD FOR $940
