Graded NM 84 by SGC. Extremely crisp, high-grade example of Joe DiMaggio's most recognizable card produced at the very beginning of his Major League career. One of card collecting's classics of the era, this is one of the keys to the 1939 Play Ball set, and one of the most popular of all prewar baseball cards. This striking example has four sharp corners (a little wear on the bottom left), with a crystal clear image of the "Yankee Clipper" in a portrait pose, and is centered just a hint to the left (approximately 45/55 L/R). Perfectly clean, both front and back. A very tiny pinpoint surface bump (not easily seen) in the dark background to the left of DiMaggio's portrait is likely solely responsible for this card not receiving an even higher grade. This is an outstanding high-grade example of one of the key cards from the 1939 Play Ball set and one of the most popular cards of the era. The equivalent SMR value in assigned grade is $1,400. Reserve $400. Estimate $800/$1,200. SOLD FOR $1,528
