Graded EX-MT+ 6.5 by PSA. Very sharp example of this classic Gehrig card, one of the most popular of all Lou Gehrig cards and all 1930s bubble-gum cards. The 1934 Goudey "Lou Gehrig says..." series features an additional Gehrig portrait on the front, and words by him on the reverse (in the case of this card, an invitation to join Goudey's Knot Hole League of America club and to personally write him with questions about the game, which no doubt kept Christy Walsh or someone at Goudey very busy). Four square corners, strong bright colors, and flawless surface, with an ever-so-slight natural tilt to the image and a very slightly off-center reverse. Perfectly clean front and back. This is a beautiful card and easy to see why it is not only one of the great Goudey cards that represent Gehrig in his prime, but also one of the best of all 1930s bubble-gum cards. In this memorable batting pose we actually have the opportunity to see what pitchers who faced Gehrig had to confront. No matter what pitchers threw Lou during the 1934 season, he was likely to belt a long one. A beautiful and extremely high grade example of one of Gehrig's most desirable cards. There is no SMR value listed for a PSA EX-MT+ 6.5. The SMR value for a PSA EX-MT 6 is $2,400. Reserve $800. Estimate $1,500/$2,500.
