Graded NM 7 by PSA. Highest-graded example! Sharp-looking high-grade example of T207 "Smokey" Joe Wood, one of the most important star pitchers of the era and the set, and also a particularly scarce card in the set, and among the rarest of all T207 cards issued with Recruit Little Cigars advertising backs. Incredibly, just thirteen examples of Wood have ever been graded by PSA to date (and the next best example is graded EX 5). This card is extremely sharp and clean, with corners displaying only the slightest touch of wear, and with a very slight diamond cut. The image is centered 75/25 left to right and 65/35 top to bottom. Though not a Hall of Famer, "Smokey" Joe Wood was one of the best known and most legendary pitchers of the dead-ball era. This is a very attractive high-grade example of one of the key stars from the classic T207 Brown Background series. Reserve $500. Estimate (open). SOLD FOR $4,700
