Addendum: After the catalog went to press, REA submitted all six T205 Gold Borders with rare Hindu advertising backs in this lot to SGC for encapsulation and grading. The SGC grading report is as follows: Four cards are graded Good 30 (Walter Johnson, Clyde Engle, Harry Gaspar, and Leon Ames); one card is graded Fair 20 (Bud Sharpe); and one card is graded Poor 10 (Jacklitsch). Remarkable small find of six T205 Gold Borders with rare Hindu advertising backs. Incredibly, for all the thousands of T205s we have offered over the years, it appears these are the very first T205 Hindu backs we have offered since 2004 when we began archiving our auctions online for collectors' reference. All T205 Hindu backs are great rarities (Hindu and Drum are the rarest of all T205 ad backs), but this group is especially noteworthy as it includes Hall of Famer Walter Johnson. The collection is modest in grade (ranging from Pr to Gd) and is comprised of the following: Ames (Fr), Engle (Fr), Gaspar (Fr), Jacklitsch (Pr), Johnson (HOF, Fr-Gd/Gd, very rounded corners but a nice-looking card!), and Sharpe (Fr). Collection of six different T205 cards, highlighted by Hall of Fame pitcher Walter Johnson, each featuring the rare Hindu tobacco advertisement on the reverse. Total 6 cards. Reserve $500. Estimate (open). SOLD FOR $8,225
