Original-owner collection of 238 assorted T206 White Borders (165 different and 73 duplicates) including an extremely impressive thirty Hall of Famers (of the seventy-six Hall of Famers in the set), among them two Ty Cobbs, two Tris Speakers, and Cy Young. Also included are fourteen rare Southern Leaguers. This is an original "childhood" collection, assembled in 1911 and saved in the family of the original owner. We have selected three cards to be graded and encapsulated by SGC. The collection grades as follows: 29 cards grade Vg-Ex; 186 cards range from Good to Very Good; the remaining 23 cards range from Pr to Fr-Gd. The backs are mainly Piedmont, but also included are a few Sweet Caporal (3) and a group of Old Mill (28 cards). The thirty Hall of Famers are graded individually as follows: Bender/no trees (Vg, Old Mill back), Bender/trees (Gd), Bender/port. (Fr), two Bresnahan/bat (Vg and Gd), Brown/Chicago (Vg), Chance/yellow (Fr, Old Mill back), Chesbro (Vg), Cobb/red (Old Mill back, SGC FAIR 20), Cobb/bat on (SGC Auth, trimmed), Collins/Minn. (Vg), Crawford/throwing (Gd), G. Davis (Vg), Duffy (Gd), two Evers/Chicago (both Vg), Evers/Cubs (Gd), Huggins/port. (Pr), Jennings/one hand (Gd-Vg), two Marquard/port. (Vg-Ex and Gd), McGinnity (Vg), McGraw/no cap (Pr), two Speaker (SGC GOOD 30 and Gd), Tinker/hands on knees (Vg), Wallace (trimmed), Wheat (Gd), Willis/bat (Gd-Vg), and Young/bare hand (Pr). Other key cards: Chase/holding trophy (Fr), two Chase/blue (Vg and Pr, both Old Mill backs), two Chase/black cap (Vg-Ex and Vg), Chase/white cap (Pr), and Cicotte/Black Sox (miscut, Gd). This is a very substantial, completely unpicked original collection of mixed-grade T206 White Borders, with an extremely high concentration of Hall of Famers and better cards. This original-owner collection could serve as an ideal foundation for the assembly of a low- to medium-grade set. Total 238 cards. Reserve $2,000. Estimate $4,000/$6,000+. SOLD FOR $7,638
