Graded FAIR 20 by SGC. One of only two examples ever graded by SGC (both graded FAIR 20; no examples have been graded by PSA). Extremely rare and highly desirable card from the 1912 E136 Home Run Kisses series featuring Hall of Fame member Dave Bancroft during his minor league playing days with Portland. Home Run Kisses was a brand name of the San Francisco based Collins-McCarthy Candy Company, which from 1911 to 1938 annually issued cards of Pacific Coast League players with its products. This is an outstanding medium-grade example of Bancroft's most desirable and rarest cards. The Home Run Kiss and Zeenut cards of Bancroft from 1912 are Bancroft's earliest baseball cards. This card obviously has a far superior appearance than the SGC-assigned grade. The card has been severely downgraded due to pencil writing on the blank reverse (aside from the small advertising logo for "Bardell - Sepia - San Francisco") and is otherwise in Very Good condition. This is an extremely attractive card of Bancroft in full uniform in a swing-thru pose. Due to its method of issue (one card per box) and large size (2-1/4 x 4-3/16 inches), Home Run Kisses are usually found in modest grade. The 90-card 1912 E136 Home Run Kisses set is one of the rarest of all Pacific Coast League issues and one of the rarest of all 1910-era card issues. This is a very strong and extremely attractive example of the key card from this rare minor league issue. Reserve $500. Estimate $1,000+. SOLD FOR $2,115
