Graded VG 40 by SGC. Extremely rare T208 Cullivan's Fireside series card featuring Hall of Famer Chief Bender. The Thomas Cullivan Tobacco Company of Syracuse, New York, issued this eighteen-card Philadelphia Athletics set in 1911. T208 Firesides are among the rarest of all twentieth century card issues. Produced to commemorate the Athletics' 1910 Championship season, the set features exclusively Athletics, including manager Connie Mack. The cards measure 1-1/2" x 2-5/8", which is the standard size for tobacco issues. Bright, crisp, and clean, with a bold red background, and light wear on the corners. The reverse of the card is also bright and clean, with flawless black text, and a just a tiny tobacco stain near the right edge (mentioned for the sake of accuracy). This is an extraordinary T208 example and one of the few Hall of Famers from one of tobacco-card collecting's rarest sets. Reserve $2,500. Estimate (open). SOLD FOR $11,163
