Graded EX-MT 6 by GAI. Presented here is one of the finest examples known (easily the finest we have ever seen) of what is universally recognized as one of the scarcest and most desirable nonsports gum-card display boxes of the 1960s: The Outer Limits. The 1964 Topps "Outer Limits" counter display box once held 24 five-cent packs. Creepy sci-fi monsters appear on the top and side of the box. "There is nothing wrong with your television set. Do not attempt to adjust the picture..." Those immortal words began the intimidating narration at the beginning of each episode of one of TV's most creative and exciting science fiction shows. Mayhem soon followed, usually involving hideous monsters that threatened all that we hold dear. It was only natural that The Outer Limits should be honored with its own bubble-gum card set. This extremely popular nonsport set issued by Topps (and credited to Topps trade name "Bubbles, Inc." on the reverse of each card, in case the subject matter offended parents) is based on the classic sci-fi television series. This issue naturally has broad appeal to both card, science fiction, pop culture, and television collectors. The box is bright and clean, perfectly rectangular, and is in simply exceptional Excellent-to-Mint condition. This is a stunning point-of-sale display box from one of the most popular nonsports sets of the 1960s. Reserve $200. Estimate $400/$800.
