Presented is a remarkable set of ten similarly designed National Biscuit Company in-store advertising displays dating to circa 1920. These displays were among the greatest highlights from the archives of the National Biscuit Company sold by REA in 2007, and have been consigned to this auction directly from the gentleman who purchased these at that auction. Each of these 7 x 25-inch display pieces features the company's famous trademark image of the "Uneeda Boy" and is captioned "We Sell Best Groceries - That's Why We Sell N. B. C. Quality Products." The only difference among the pieces is in the respective N. B. C. product illustrated and promoted. Ten different baked goods are featured in this collection including Oreo Sandwich Cookies, Moonbeams, and Triton Sandwich Cookies. These advertising pieces, which were intended for display in the cracker section of local grocery stores, are unique in that they all originate directly from the company's archives and, as such, they remain in a remarkable state of preservation. Each piece displays three horizontal fold lines (as issued) and is in Near Mint condition with the exception of two (Ex, with small abrasions along the left border of each). All of the displays have been individually framed to slightly larger dimensions. Included with the ten advertising displays are three circa 1910 National Biscuit Company advertising postcards. Two feature the "Uneeda Boy," while the other pictures Zu Zu the clown. All three of the postcards (3.25 x 5.5 inches) are in Excellent condition and have been matted and framed together to total dimensions of 5.75 x 20.5 inches. Please note: due to the size and/or number of framed items in this collection, the shipping charges for this lot (depending on where it is sent and method of shipping) may be substantial.
Total: 13 items (10 advertising displays and 3 postcards framed together). Reserve $1,000. Estimate (open). SOLD FOR $1,410
