Original Charles Conlon press photo, culled from The Chicago Sun Times archives, capturing Hall of Fame manager John McGraw as a member of the New York Giants. This splendid photograph, which pictures McGraw as he gets in a little infield work at first base prior to a game, is one of the few photos we have ever seen of McGraw "in action" during his managerial career. That it comes to us through the gifted lens of Charles Conlon is simply an added bonus. Reverse markings consist of Conlon's "Evening Telegram" credit stamp, as well as "N. Y. Herald Syndicate" credit stamp. Although undated, the uniform style shown here was only worn by the Giants in 1911 (according to the Baseball Hall of Fame Uniform Database). The photo (5 x 6.5 inches) has a few very minor flaws common to nearly all working press photos, including a small corner chip in the upper right and a slightly trimmed top border. In Very Good to Excellent condition. Reserve $200. Estimate $400+.
