Graded GOOD 2 by PSA. Scarce T204 Ramly "square border" variation card of Chicago White Sox first baseman John Anderson. One of only three square-frame examples of Anderson graded by PSA. All "square border" variations are extremely rare. Six players in the T204 Ramly set are known to exist with this distinctive square-frame design. Only a few examples of each T204 "square frame" card are known, and each is far rarer than many of the most well known tobacco-card rarities such as the T206 Wagner or Plank. This is a very attractive sample with a crisp, clean portrait image, evenly rounded corners, several creases in the border areas, and centering to the bottom left. The blank back is relatively clean with just a hint of soiling. This auction includes two "square border" Ramlys (both from the same collection). Looking at REA's past auction records, we have offered only one other T204 Square Frame of any player (a Good condition example of Bransfield in 2006). This is a very pleasing example of one of the rarest variations from the classic T204 Ramly set. Reserve $500. Estimate $1,000/$2,000++.
