Alex Rodriguez Louisville Slugger signature-model "C271" bat dating to the 2001-2003 manufacturing period. Graded GU8 by PSA/DNA. The bat is accompanied by a one-page COA, issued by Mill Creek Sports Cards and signed by Alex Rodriguez, which more narrowly dates its period of use to the 2001 season. It reads in part: "This is to certify that the following item is a Alex Rodriguez 2001 game-used autographed bat." The bat displays light-to-medium use, including ball marks (with blue ink transfers), cleat marks, and a light application of Mota stick on the handle. Rodriguez has signed the bat in silver paint pen (grading "10") on the sweet spot. 2001 marked Rodriguez's first season with the Texas Rangers and he certainly gave the fans something to cheer about. Rodriguez led the American League in home runs for the first time in his career that season with 52. He also drove in 135 runs, batted .318, and scored a league-leading 133 runs. In 2007 Rodriguez became the youngest player to hit 500 home runs and, barring injury, he may someday break Barry Bonds' all-time home-run record of 762. Length: 33.75 inches. Weight: 31.1 ounces. Graded GU8 by PSA/DNA. LOAs from John Taube and Vince Malta of PSA/DNA and James Spence/JSA. Reserve $200. Estimate $400/$600.
