This Manny Ramirez Sam bat, model number "JB1," dates from 2000 and features both Ramirez's full name and the name of his team ("Cleveland Indians") printed in gold on the barrel. The bat displays heavy use along its entire length, including numerous ball marks, deeply embedded stitch marks, rack and cleat marks, pine tar, and a large nineteen-inch "H" crack in the handle that has been professionally repaired. Ramirez's uniform number ("24") is written in black marker on both the knob and cupped barrel end. Also written on the knob in black marker are the notations "Sam" and "34/32" (referencing the bat's length and original weight). The manufacturer's written production information appears on the cupped barrel end: "34' 32.5 oz., 6-11-00, JB1, MR." Manny Ramirez enjoyed one of his finest all-around seasons in 2000, finishing the year with a career high .351 average, 38 home runs, and 122 RBI. He also led the American League in slugging percentage for the second consecutive season with a career-high .697 mark. One of the game's greatest sluggers, Ramirez is one of only twenty-five players to hit 500 or more home runs and he also ranks in the top twenty all-time for RBI. Length: 34 inches. Weight: 32.5 ounces. Graded A8.5 by MEARS (base grade of 5, with 3 points for use and 1 point for the uniform number on the knob and barrel end, but minus a half point for the handle crack). This is one of 15 Manny Ramirez pro-model bats listed in the MEARS database, with only one other graded at this level and just two graded higher (A9 and A10). LOA from Troy Kinunen/MEARS. Reserve $200. Estimate $400/$600.
