Ivan Rodriguez and Jorge Posada are two of the greatest catchers of modern times, with Rodriguez a surefire lock for the Hall of Fame and Posada still reigning as one of the top hitters at his position. Offered here are pro-model bats specially produced for each player, both of which date to the current decade. 1) 2007 Ivan Rodriguez Signed Louisville Slugger Signature-Model "P72" Bat.
Graded A9 by MEARS. Although this bat dates from the 2001-2009 manufacturing period, it can be more narrowly defined to the 2007 season based upon an accompanying one-page typed LOA signed by Rodriguez and issued by the Elite Sports Marketing Company: "I, Ivan Rodriguez hereby verify that this black Louisville Slugger P72 bat was game used by myself during the 2007 MLB season. This bat was signed in the presence of an Elite Sports Marketing representative." Rodriguez has signed the letter in blue ink (grading "10"). Rodriguez has further affirmed its game-used status by inscribing the bat in silver paint pen (grading "10") on the sweet spot: "Ivan Rodriguez # 7 G.U." The bat displays moderate use, including ball marks, rack marks, and a copious amount of pine tar on the handle. Rodriguez's uniform number ("7") is written on both the knob and barrel end in silver paint pen. The notation "33.7" (referencing the bat's weight) also appears on the knob in silver paint pen. Rodriguez batted .281 with 11 home runs and 63 RBI for Detroit in 2007. Length: 34 inches. Weight: 33 ounces. Graded A9 by MEARS (base grade of 5, plus 2 points for use and 2 points for the provenance/LOA). This is one of only eight Ivan Rodriguez pro-model bats listed in the MEARS database, with no others graded at this level and only two graded higher (both A10). 2) 2003-2004 Jorge Posada Louisville Slugger Signature-Model "M356" Bat.
Graded A8.5 by MEARS. The bat displays moderate use, including ball marks, deeply embedded stitch marks, rack and cleat marks, pine tar, and Posada's customary crisscross wrap of tape extending 6.5 inches up the handle. The bat also displays an eight-inch crack in the handle. A Steiner Sports hologram label appears on the barrel (Steiner Sports is the exclusive marketer of all New York Yankee game-used equipment). Length: 34.5 inches. Weight: 32.6 ounces. Graded A8.5 by MEARS (base grade of 5, plus 2 points for use and 2 points for the combination of appropriate player characteristics and the Steiner Sports hologram label, but minus a half point for the handle crack). This is one of only four Jorge Posada pro-model bats listed in the MEARS database, with no others graded at this level, and only one graded higher (A10). LOAs from Troy Kinunen/MEARS and James Spence/JSA. Total: 2 bats. Reserve $300. Estimate $500/$1,000. SOLD FOR $529
