Presented are two key Hall of Famer Dietsche postcards, one of Ty Cobb and one of Joe Tinker from the 1907 A. C. Dietsche Detroit Tigers (PC765-1) and Chicago Cubs (PC765-2) sets, each graded and encapsulated by SGC. 1) Ty Cobb (VG 40). Very attractive example of what many consider to be Ty Cobb's true rookie card, from the highly regarded A. C. Dietsche Detroit Tigers postcard set, issued in 1907. While we realize that the definition of what is a player's rookie card can sometimes be very controversial and can vary from collector to collector, this card was issued in 1907 and is one of just a few cards that can lay claim to the distinction of being Cobb's rookie card. Never mailed. No writing on postcard reverse. The card displays evenly rounded corners, and light edge and surface wear. The Dietsche Detroit Tigers postcard of Ty Cobb represents an outstanding overlooked value compared to most other early Cobb cards, including those issued a couple of years later which are widely recognized by many collectors as Cobb's rookie cards. 2) Joe Tinker (VG/EX 50). This series of Chicago Cubs players were issued by the same printer who produced the Tigers postcard series. The Cubs postcards are much rarer than the Tigers series because they were only issued in Detroit during the 1907 World Series between the Tigers and Cubs, and not many fans were buying the visiting teams souvenirs. Downgraded from Ex due to light surface wear. Never mailed. No writing on postcard reverse. Two key Dietsche postcards featuring two of the era's most legendary stars. Total 2 cards. Reserve $200. Estimate $400/$800.
