Presented is an exceptionally high grade complete set of Safe at Home lobby cards, easily the finest set we have ever offered. Each card is in pristine Near Mint-to-Mint condition and appears exactly as it did when issued forty-six years ago. This set of eight cards was issued for display in movie theaters to advertise and promote the 1962 Columbia Pictures film Safe at Home , starring Yankee sluggers Mickey Mantle and Roger Maris. Released in the wake of their most glorious season, Safe at Home did not win any Academy Awards, nor was it a "home run" with the critics. But it did give Mantle and Maris an opportunity to shine on the big screen, which was a source of great amusement to both for the rest of their lives. The movie also left collectors with a selection of extremely attractive display materials, primarily in the form of one-sheet posters and lobby cards. Of the two, the lobby cards are somewhat scarcer and are rarely, if ever, found in such pristine condition. All eight cards are represented here, including the highly desirable title card. Five of the eight cards feature Mantle and Maris together, while the other three picture the principle characters in the movie. This is an extraordinary set of these highly desirable Mantle and Maris display pieces and one that has equally great appeal to collectors in the fields of both baseball and film memorabilia. Total: 8 lobby cards. Reserve $200. Estimate $400/$800. SOLD FOR $1,528
