1904 St. Louis Browns program with elaborate cover design featuring individual portrait images of seventeen team members, including manager Jimmy McAleer, Rhoderick Wallace, Jesse Burkett, and Fred Glade. This extremely rare and substantial twenty-page program commemorates a game between St. Louis and the defending World Champion Boston Red Sox. Boston repeated as League champion in 1904 but was denied the chance to defend their World Championship after John McGraw, manager of the National League champion New York Giants, steadfastly refused to play them in the World Series. Included in the preprinted lineups are Collins, Selbach, Stahl, Parent, and Gibson for Boston, and Burkett, Wallace, and Heidrick for St. Louis. The score pages are neatly scored in pencil and record a 3-0 victory for St. Louis. The interior pages also include many advertisements for local establishments. Although the program is undated, research indicates that the only 3-0 home victory by St. Louis over Boston in 1904 occurred on September 30th. The program (5.125 x 6.75 inches) displays a few tiny edge tears and minor surface wrinkles on the covers. Extraordinary for display. In Very Good to Excellent condition. Reserve $200. Estimate $400+. SOLD FOR $1,058
