1971 Philadelphia Phillies program, issued for a game against the Pittsburgh Pirates, signed on the cover by Roberto Clemente, Willie Stargell, and Gene Clines of the Pirates, and Ray Ripplemeyer (coach) of the Phillies. Each of the signatures has been boldly scripted in blue ink and grades "10." These four signatures were almost certainly obtained in person at Veteran's Stadium, making this an outstanding signed souvenir dating from the Pirates 1971 World Championship season. 1971 marked Clemente's penultimate season with the Pirates, a year in which he batted .341 with 13 home runs and 86 RBI. Stargell also posted outstanding numbers that season; leading the National League in home runs (48) while driving in 125 runs and batting .295. Unfortunately, both players passed away prematurely. Clemente perished tragically in a plane crash in 1972, while Stargell died in 2001 from complications relating to a stroke. The fifty-six page program (7 x 10 inches) displays only light handling wear and the interior scorecard section remains untouched. In Excellent to Mint condition. LOA from James Spence/JSA. Reserve $300. Estimate $500+. SOLD FOR $940
