Official American League (Harridge) ball signed in black fountain pen by the following twenty members of the 1936 World Champion New York Yankees: Gehrig (sweet spot, "3/4"), DiMaggio ("1"), Ruffing, Gomez (clubhouse signature), Dickey, Lazzeri, Glenn, Wicker, Jorgens, Powell, Brown, Hadley, Murphy, Crosetti, Seeds, Schulte, Malone, Pearson, Saltzgaver, and Rolfe. The signatures on this ball are extremely faint, with ten, including DiMaggio, Lazzeri, Dickey, Gomez, and Ruffing, only visible upon very close inspection. Fortunately, the Gehrig signature, displayed on the sweet spot, remains one of the strongest on the ball. Overall, the signatures range in grade from "1" to "4," averaging "1/2." The ball itself is exceptionally clean and attractive, in strong Excellent condition, with all of the manufacturer's stamps bold and legible. 1936 New York Yankees team balls are rare, and while this is admittedly a low-grade example, it remains a highly significant memento dating from the start of the club's historic four-year World Championship run. LOA from James Spence/JSA. Reserve $300. Estimate $500/$1,000.
