Very presentable example of legendary Hall of Famer Ty Cobb from the extremely rare 1914 T216 Kotton Tobacco series. Graded POOR 10 by SGC, the card is bright, with bold colors, clean front and back, virtually perfect registration, extremely worn corners, and heavy creases. Ideally the Kotton Cigarettes advertisement on the back is boldly printed. All Kotton Tobacco cards are extremely rare, and Ty Cobb, of course, is one of the few key cards to the set. The Kotton Tobacco series was issued only in the Louisiana area. The T216 Kotton Tobacco set includes two different poses of Ty Cobb (batting and standing). This example features Cobb in a batting pose. This same batting pose was also used for E90-1 American Caramel Company. This is a very presentable low-grade example of one of Ty Cobb's rarest tobacco cards. Reserve $300. Estimate $500/$1,000+.
