Collection of twelve different 1910 T212 Obak Cigarettes “175 Subjects” cards (and one "150 Subjects" card), each graded and encapsulated by PSA (6), SGC (5), or GAI (1). Obaks are among the most popular of all early card issues featuring players from the Pacific Coast League. While catalogued simply as T212, Obaks were actually issued over a period of three years, from 1909 to 1911, and are really three sets. The 1910 and 1911 Obak sets, in addition to featuring players from the six PCL teams, also feature players from the four-team Northwestern League. The 1910 cards are easily distinguished by the blue printing on their backs with a less ornate font than the 1909 cards, while the 1911 cards are the only Obak set with red printing on the reverse. Most of the cards are bright and crisp, with vibrant colors and outstanding registration. The collection includes the following:
Armbuster (EX+ 70), Bassey (EX+ 70), Bernard (EX/NM 80), Briggs (EX 5), Brinker (EX+ 5.5), Krapp (EX+ 70), Manush ("150 Subjects", EX 5, brother of Hall of Famer Heinie), Nordyke (EX+ 5.5), Olson (EX-MT 6), Perry (EX-MT 6), Rapps (EX 60), and Willett (GAI EX 5). All the cards in this collection of these increasingly popular PCL tobacco cards present with outstanding eye-appeal. This is a rare opportunity to acquire a very attractive collection of these early classics. Total: 12 cards. Reserve $300. Estimate (open).
