Graded VG/EX 50 by SGC (submitted by REA). Presented is one of vintage-card collecting's most recognizable icons and one of the key cards of the 1915 E145 Cracker Jack series: #30 Ty Cobb. Besides being the second most valuable card in the set (behind Joe Jackson), it is also one of the most desirable and striking of all Ty Cobb cards. The offered example is an absolute gem and one of the finest Cobb specimens we have ever seen or offered! The card is bright and crisp, both front and back, with bold colors, a brilliant red background, four sharp corners, and outstanding centering. The back is bright and clean. This card most likely originated from a factory set by mail. There are absolutely no caramel stains on the front or back. There is evidence of a very faint wrinkle in the upper left portion of the card (more visible from the reverse), which is responsible for the very modest assigned grade. This is an extremely attractive example of card #30 Ty Cobb in a desirable high grade. The classic Cracker Jack set is considered by many to be the most beautiful card set ever issued. The E145 Ty Cobb has always and will always be in high demand, especially a desirable high-grade example such as this. This is one of card collecting's great classics and would be a worthy addition to any high-grade Cracker Jack, Ty Cobb, or Hall of Fame collection. Reserve $1,000. Estimate $2,500++.
