Collection of three E125 American Caramel Die-cut cards, including a representation of three of the four teams issued (Athletics, Giants, and Pirates). The cards have an appearance far superior to their technical grades. E125s tend to have all kinds of condition problems due to their fragile construction, so collectors are naturally a little more tolerant with this issue. This collection consists of the following:
Harry Davis (Philadelphia Athletics, a surface scratch visible on the reverse, otherwise Ex-Mt), Larry Doyle (New York Giants, several creases and wrinkles on his face, arm, and leg, otherwise Vg-Ex), and Dots Miller (Pittsburgh Pirates, surface paper loss around his neck area, otherwise Vg-Ex). The stand-up flaps of all three cards are intact and have never been folded back. E125 die-cuts are among the rarest of all 1910-era candy issues. No full set is known to exist, and due to their considerable rarity, even the checklisting of the set is still a work in progress some ninety years after its issue. This is an exceptional collection of three of these extremely rare and uniquely designed 1910-era baseball die-cut caramel cards. From the Dan Gantt Collection. Total: 3 cards. Reserve $300. Estimate $1,000++.
