Extremely rare 1966 Topps Batman “Blue Bat” Series B uncut double proof sheet with 264 cards. The sheet is especially unusual in that it is blank backed but in all other respects is identical to a final production sheet. This "Jumbo" sheet measures 42.75 x 56.5 inches, and contains a total of 264 cards arranged in twenty-two rows of twelve cards, which represents six-printed runs of the 44-card set. An impressive visual is created with all of the cards printed on front. Batman took the world by storm in 1966 with the introduction of the wildly popular Batman television series. Topps joined the bandwagon with several series of card sets devoted to the Caped Crusader. This classic 1960s card set featured brilliantly illustrated scenes of Batman and Robin in action as they protected Gotham City. This is an ideal sheet for display as it maintains the same vivid colors as intended more than fifty years ago. Because of the large size, it is susceptible to various condition flaws, such as creases, edge wear, two pieces missing on the borders, and a couple tears. This sheet is very bright, clean, and extremely impressive, and could easily be cut down into two standard 132-card sheets. Assigning an overall grade to uncut sheets, especially one of this impressive size, can be extremely difficult. Many of the interior cards on this sheet would grade Nr/Mt. As outlined above, the various condition flaws, mostly relegated to the edges, corners, or outside cards, would cause the sheet to grade more modestly overall. Despite these flaws, this is still an extremely attractive display sheet from one of the most popular of all Topps nonsport issues worthy of any advanced collection. Rare and ideal for framing and display! The substantial size/weight of this item requires that there will be a shipping charge for this lot (which will vary depending upon where it is being shipped). The shipping charge will be billed separately from the auction invoice. Reserve $300. Estimate (open).
