Collection of eight pieces of original artwork from the 1964 Topps "Nutty Awards" set, one of the 1960s' most striking and unusual nonsport issues. This set is one of several high-quality Topps card issues of the early 1960s featuring artwork and humor reminiscent of Mad Magazine
and illustrated by noted artist Jack Davis. The set featured thirty-two colorful fronts with a humorous award or license (for instance "Idiot Award" or "Back Seat Driver's License") and a traditional postcard reverse. "Nutty Awards" is a classic among the irreverent sets issued by Topps in the 1960s, and captures the spirit of the time. This collection consists of original artwork for the following cards:
#3, 6, 7, 9, 11, 12, 23, and 25. Each black-and-white artwork is drawn in great detail on thin artist's board ranging in size from 2.25 by 4.5 inches to 3.25 by 12 inches. Normal production-related markings and tape remnants are visible on all the artworks. This is only the second time that we have ever offered original artwork from this very substantial and classic nonsport card set. Accompanied by the eight issued cards these works appear. Total: 8 artworks. Reserve $400. Estimate (open).
