Exceptional high-grade complete set of twenty-five different F277-1 "Famous Airplanes" cards issued by Heinz in 1940, entirely graded and encapsulated by PSA (GPA 7.26). Heinz produced several aviation-themed sets during this era "for the purpose of stimulating Young America's interest in aviation," as noted on the backs of cards from its "Famous Aviators" set. The cards, which measure approximately 1-7/8 x 3 inches, feature beautiful full-color illustrations of airplanes. The backs have a brief description of the illustrated airplane. PSA Grading Composite: NM-MT 8 (9 cards): #2, 4, 6, 8, 9, 10, 15, 20, and 22. NM+ 7.5 (1 card): #18. NM 7 (13 cards): #3, 5, 7, 11, 12, 13, 14, 16, 17, 19, 21, 23, and 24. EX-MT 6 (1 card): #25 (last card of set). EX 5 (1 card): #1 Roscoe Turner’s Original “57” Racer. All cards in the offered set are bright and clean, with vibrant colors. This extremely attractive complete set of this popular issue would be a significant addition to even the most advanced nonsport collection. Total: 25 cards. Reserve $200. Estimate (open).
