Exceptional high-grade complete set of twenty-five different F277-4 "Famous Aviators" cards issued by Heinz in the 1930s, entirely graded and encapsulated by PSA (GPA 6.32). Heinz produced several aviation-themed sets during this era "for the purpose of stimulating Young America's interest in aviation," as noted on the backs of the cards from this set. The cards, which measure approximately 1-7/8 x 3 inches, feature beautiful full-color illustrations of famous pilots, such as Charles Lindbergh, Eddie Rickenbacker, Roscoe Turner, and Jimmie Doolittle. The backs have a brief bio of the illustrated pilot. PSA grading composite: NM-MT 8 (3 cards): #7, 8, and 9. NM 7 (9 cards): #1 Lindbergh, 4 Turner, 5, 10, 11, 20, 21, 24, and 25 (last card in the set). EX-MT+ 6.5 (1 card): #19. EX-MT 6 (6 cards): #2, 3 Rickenbacker, 12, 16, 17, and 22. EX 5 (4 cards): #13 Doolittle, 14, 18, and 23. VG-EX+ 4.5 (1 card): #15. VG-EX 4 (1 card): #6. All cards in the offered set are bright and clean, with vibrant colors. This extremely attractive complete set of this popular issue would be a significant addition to even the most advanced nonsport collection. Total: 25 cards. Reserve $200. Estimate (open).
