Complete set of fifty 1888 N22 Allen & Ginter “Racing Colors of the World” cards, all the "borderless" design variation. Condition is 56% Vg-Ex to Ex, 14% Gd to Vg, and 30% lesser (mostly due to paper loss on back). Issued with Allen & Ginter's Cigarettes. Somewhat reminiscent in high quality and design to the N162 Old Judge & Gypsy Queen Champions series, these sporting cards feature attractive female jockeys riding racehorses dressed in fancy jockey’s attire. The colors printed on the cards represent, at the time, well-known stables from around the world. The back of each card features a checklist of the set. This is an extremely attractive set with outstanding eye-appeal. Allen & Ginter's “Racing Colors of the World” set has always been highly appreciated by nineteenth-century nonsport tobacco-card collectors for its beauty and subject matter. Rarely offered as a complete set. Total: 50 cards. Reserve $200. Estimate $400+.
