Each card features a portrait image of a legendary pirate (such as Blackbeard, Captain Kidd, Sir Henry Morgan, etc.) on the front with a beautiful color lithograph of a scene relating to the individual's field of interest. The back of each card features the biography for the pirate. This is an extremely attractive set, with fascinating subject matter, and with outstanding eye-appeal. This set is from the collection of a very advanced longtime nonsport collector. Allen & Ginter's "Pirates of Spanish Main" are rarely offered as a complete set (in fact this is only the third complete set we have ever sold in the last thirteen years), and are highly prized by historical collectors and nineteenth-century nonsport tobacco-card collectors. Total: 50 cards. Reserve $1,000. Estimate $2,500++.
