Outstanding mid- to high-grade complete set of 1971-1972 Topps basketball cards, consisting of 233 different cards. The 1971-1972 Topps set is very popular among collectors for its bright colors and funky text, both telltale signs of an early 1970s issue. The set is loaded with stars and Hall of Famers, including Pete Maravich, Oscar Robertson, and rookie cards of Rick Barry, Dave Cowens, Bob Lanier, Larry Brown, Nate Archibald, and Dan Issel. This was also the first year that Topps included cards of ABA (American Basketball Association) players. Condition is 51% Nr/Mt (including some better), 29% Ex-Mt, and 20% Vg to Vg-Ex (including four lesser and a few miscut). Two cards have been graded by PSA (1) and BVG (1). Keys:
#1 Robertson (Ex-Mt+), 2 Bradley (BVG NM-MT 8), 10 Baylor (Ex+), 20 Haywood RC (Nr/Mt), 29 Archibald RC (75/25 L/R, otherwise Nr/Mt), 35 Havlicek (Ex-Mt), 47 Cowens RC (Nr/Mt-Mt), 50 West (PSA NM-MT 8), 55 Maravich (Ex-Mt+), 63 Lanier RC (Ex-Mt+), 65 Frazier (Ex+), 70 Chamberlain (Nr/Mt), 91 Tomjanovich RC (65/35 L/R, otherwise Nr/Mt-Mt), 100 Alcindor (Nr/Mt-Mt), 120 Hayes (diamond cut, otherwise Ex), 152 Brown RC (Ex+), 170 Barry RC (Ex-Mt), and 200 Issel RC (85/15 L/R, otherwise Ex-Mt). An extremely attractive and very consistent mid- to high-grade complete set of this popular 1970s Topps basketball issue, loaded with stars and Hall of Famers. Total: 233 cards. Reserve $200. Estimate $400+.
